Operations Technician
As an Operations Technician in the chemical industry, you will play a crucial role in chemical manufacturing facilities' safe and efficient operation. Your responsibilities will include overseeing day-to-day operations, monitoring equipment, and ensuring safety and environmental regulations compliance.
Your primary responsibilities will include operating chemical processing equipment, such as reactors, distillation columns, and pumps, to produce high-quality chemical products. You will be responsible for starting up, shutting down, and monitoring process parameters to maintain optimal operating conditions and meet production targets.
In addition to operating equipment, you will be responsible for conducting routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability and integrity of equipment. This may involve inspecting valves, piping systems, and instrumentation, as well as performing minor repairs or adjustments as needed.
You will also be responsible for troubleshooting and diagnosing process issues that arise during production. Working closely with other operations and maintenance personnel, you will identify and implement solutions to minimize downtime and ensure the continuity of production.
Safety is a top priority in the chemical industry, and you will need to adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures while performing operations tasks. To excel in this role, you should have a strong understanding of chemical processes and equipment, as well as experience in operations in a chemical manufacturing environment. You should be familiar with process control systems and instrumentation and be able to interpret technical drawings and diagrams.
Effective communication skills are essential, as you will be interacting with other operations personnel, engineers, and supervisors regularly. You should be able to communicate, process information clearly and accurately, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
Previous experience as an operations technician in the chemical industry and relevant technical training or certification are preferred. A strong commitment to safety, reliability, and quality is essential in this role.
